Watching "The Secretary"

Holy God, I just finished watching "The Secretary" and all I can say is WOW.

I don't know what I was expecting going into the movie except that I was told by multiple people to watch it and after reading [profile] houseketeer's "Soundtrack to Secretary" it seemed like a good idea to do on a Friday nght.

Can I just say I was blown away by how amazing the film was and how amazing Maggie G and James Spader were in it. GUH, I've always loved James Spader, he's a freak but in this movie he was a revelation. Just awe inspiring acting, the emotions he conveyed in his scenes were indescribable.  And Maggie G, amazing, amazing actress.

I honestly can't say enough about the beauty and sexiness of this movie.  A great story and acting.

I am so in love with naughty James Spader right now. (Well he'll never replace Hugh but damn, he was hot!)

OK, that's the end of my squeeage

Oh,my god. You just watched The Secretary? Gah! I love that movie. Funny, I fell so hard for JS after seeing that movie. I was really moved by the relationship between Lee and Mr. Grey.

The movie is actually based on a short story (which is awful, don't ever read it).

It's fantastic. God. I love this movie! Although know one knows that though so...ssshh. :)

You didn't like Mary Gaitskill's story? Her stories are hard to read in that they're graphic and troubling, very disturbing. But, I think she's extremely talented and an amazing writer. Heartbreaking but amazing.

"Secretary" is one of my favorite movies. James Spader? He's totally doable. Check out his filmography at IMDb.com. See him in "Crash" and "Sex, Lies, and Videotape" if you haven't already. Maggie G. is terrific in everything.

BTW, "Secretary" is a story by the amazing author Mary Gaitskill. If you don't mind short stories dealing with S&M and pain associated with sex, you should check her stuff out, because she's a phenomenal writer.

I hear ya...I'd never seen the movie until a short time ago when [livejournal.com profile] houseketeer was kind enough to send me a copy, and I had the exact same thoughts.

Yes, it was sexy as hell, but all I could think was just how unbelievably beautiful the whole thing was. *sigh*

You never seen it before?
Dude that film is one of my faves!!!!!

Maggie, I'm in love with her. She had such intense sadness in her eyes in that movie. I got so connected to her.
